Offline modeling is often the first step of an online data validation and reconciliation solution. It is also used for:

• Plant audits
• Identification of improvements opportunities
• Performance testing
• Acceptance test

It can also be used as a tool in classic engineering studies, where the data validation and reconciliation models give a true picture of the actual state of the process, including heat transfer coefficients, pump efficiency, yields, etc. Plus it is possible to introduce changes to the process and evaluate the impacts.
