We base most of our day-to-day decisions regarding how to operate our plant on process data. We calculate different efficiencies of our process, usually expressed as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Unfortunately none of the data you use to calculate your KPIs is correct, they all contain errors. By using data with a low accuracy to calculate your KPIs can only lead to one thing: you are basing your business decisions on bad data. This white paper looks into the problem of uncertainty of process data and suggests an approach to minimze the uncertainty and improve the reliability of KPIs.
