Project Started This month another project is kicking-off in western Africa together with Société Ivorienne de Raffinage (SIR). The goal for the first part of this project is to install a ValiUtilities system that will provide SIR with an energy management system, providing daily accurate energy data. Please contact Julien Campan for more information, julien.campan@belsim.com European norm for accurate process data Just like VALI is VDI2048 certified for use in the nuclear industry, Belsim is working to develop a European norm for all process industry. This is of course a big challenge and time consuming but hopefully this will standardize the definition of data validation and reconciliation, and help industry chose the most appropriate tool. Project Started In January Belsim started a Data Validation and Reconciliation (DVR) project for a major oil production site in western Africa together with Total Exploration and Production. The goal of this project is to implement a Belsim DVR solution for the fuel and flare system of the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Off-loading) topside (Gas Oil Separation Plant) in order to improve gas and energy balances, CO2 emissions monitoring and gas composition knowledge. It is a graphical user interface for sensitivity analysis of your results and model. This interface gives easy access to all sensitivity analysis results, offers a graphical view of results and it is easy to navigate between related tags. General information about the model and the validation/reconciliation can also be found in this interface. It will be available for purchase mid-2008. Voting has closed The voting for development in release 2008 has closed and the winner is: CAPE open socket. In second and third place came lump measurements and debugging. All three developments will be included in release 2008. Microsoft TechDays 2008 Our team of developers recently attended Microsoft TechDays 2008 in Paris. There they learned about the new technologies that can help us enhance our solutions. Release 2008 Our team is working really hard on the new release that you will have in your hands mid-2008. Publications Attached to this newsletter are two publications. The first one is a new white paper discussing the importance of accuracy for your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). New management at Belsim As of 1st of October Pierre-Boris Kalitventzeff will serve as Belsim’s new CEO, taking over the role after Boris Kalitventzeff. Everyone at Belsim will be forever grateful for the work that Boris Kalitventzeff has done and we are happy to announce that he will stay on as Chairman and scientific advisor. In the new organization Hervé Closon is the new Technical Manager and Ulrika Wising is the new Commercial Manager. Belsim's 16th User Meeting Belsim’s 16th User Meeting was a great success. We had participants from all over the world that came to share their experience of Belsim’s solutions. A range of different industry sectors were presents from electric power production to upstream, pulp and paper, fertilizer production, refineries, etc. To read more... It is time to vote for the new software development At the 16th Belsim User Meeting there was a new point on the agenda: User to decide what will be included in the next release. In order to decide the voting list, we had a roundtable session at the User Meeting where 12 items were selected for the list (see descriptions below). In order to vote, you need to tell us your name, company, function and email address. Then you can choose one item of the list as your first choice of development. The voting ends the 30th of November and as soon as we have counted all the votes the winning development will be announced. Click here to vote... Maximize the benefit of your Belsim Application In this new offer, Belsim will provide a systematic application surveillance service and on-demand support in order to ensure that the installed Belsim application works at peak performance. Belsim experts will access the installed application, providing reports on the status of the installed application and its performance. Basically, this new Service Agreement covers support on the application that is not covered by the software maintenance agreement. It can include, but is not limited to: • Help with model convergence • Help with making changes to the model • Help with making changes to the applications • Advanced filtering • Training • Exploitation of the results The main support will be handled remotely. The recommended approach is to open a direct connection to the ValiPerformance server (VPN connection) from Belsim offices. Data Reconciliation + Data Mining = True After several successful applications, Belsim and PEPITe have decided to establish a closer partnership in order to bring even more benefits to their customers.
